Qatar Airways is to start London Heathrow operations with its Airbus A380 on 17 June.
The aircraft will operate the Oneworld carrier’s QR003 and QR004 flight, serving the new Doha Hamad International Airport.
This service is typically operated by Boeing 777-300ERs.
Chief executive Akbar Al Baker says the delayed Hamad airport is “soon to be opened”, and says the A380 will “set a new level of comfort for our passengers”.
Hamad has six dedicated gates for the A380.
Qatar Airways has 10 A380s on order with commitments for a further three of the type.
