Qatar Airways expects to launch its new Saudi-based domestic operation, Al Maha Airways, this November.
The Gulf carrier last year outlined plans to launch a Saudi airline, one of two domestic operations in progress under licences offered by a Saudi government tender in late 2012. Earlier this year Qatar chief executive Akbar Al Baker said he was targeting a launch in the second half of this year for the Saudi operation.
Today, during the Arabian Travel Market in Abu Dhabi, Al Baker says Al Maha will launch in November.
The airline, which will operate Airbus A320s, aims to have 10 of the type in service within its first year of operations.
