Qatar Airways plans to launch new service between Doha and Miami from 10 June 2014, linking its Gulf hub to the centre of Oneworld Alliance partner American Airlines’ Latin American network.
The new flight will operate four-times weekly on a 259-seat Boeing 777-200, according to Qatar.
“The US is a growing market for us and the addition of Miami as a destination and our membership in the Oneworld Alliance opens up a multitude of better routes with the Middle East, East Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and Western Australia to and from the east coast of the US," says Akbar Al Baker, chief executive of Qatar, in a statement.
Miami is the airline’s sixth destination in the USA after Chicago O’Hare, Houston Intercontinental, New York John F. Kennedy, Philadelphia (begins in April 2014) and Washington Dulles.
No carriers operate between Doha and Miami, Innovata schedules show.
