Rand Merchant Bank has closed financing of a second Boeing 737-800 for South African carrier Comair.
The CFM International CFM56-7B26 powered aircraft (MSN 40855) was delivered last month and is financed under a 12-year US Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im) guaranteed facility by Rand Merchant Bank.
The aircraft will be operated by low-cost subsidiary Kulula. It follows MSN 40851, which closed in July 2012.
Comair placed orders for eight 737-800s in 2010. Last November it requested Ex-Im Bank support in excess of $100 million, to cover its remaining deliveries.
The carrier has two more 737-800s planned for delivery in 2015 and it will receive the final two aircraft the following year.
Private Export Funding Corp funded another two 737-800s for Comair under a 10-year Ex-Im guaranteed financing last year.
