Russia's National Reserve Corporation has named Leonid Itskov as general manager of its wholly-owned carrier, Red Wings.

Itskov replaces Viktor Kononenko, whose managerial contract has expired.

Itskov was a deputy commercial director at Aeroflot before 1999 and then took the helm of Kaliningrad Avia.

He masterminded its turnaround using a hub-and-spoke business model and was KD-Avia's executive director until it collapsed in 2008.
