Republic Airways Holdings has firmed six orders from a letter of intent it signed at the Farnborough Air Show with Embraer covering 24 E-190 family aircraft .
Embraer explains that six of the E-Jets are now firm, and the 18 remaining aircraft should be firmed by 15 April 2011. The original letter of agreement stated deliveries would begin in mid-2011 and continue through mid-2012.
The deal also includes options for 24 additional aircraft, and conversion rights for the larger E-195.
Republic's subsidiary Frontier Airlines will operate the E-Jets, which will feature Embraer's new slim seats.
During a 4 August earnings discussion Republic chief executive Bryan Bedford said the E-190/195 gives Frontier the most competitive cost structure compared to 100-seat aircraft operated by its competitors.
Republic has also ordered 40 Bombardier CSeries CS300 aircraft configured with 138 seats scheduled for delivery in mid-2015.
