Frontier Airlines parent Republic Airways Holdings has appointed industry veteran David Siegel to the newly-created post of lead independent director of the airline holding company's board.
Responsibilities of the lead independent director are inclusive of chairing the executive sessions of the independent directors, serving as a representative for the independent directors and acting as a link between the other independent directors and company management, auditors and counsel, said the carrier.
Bryan Bedford, chairman, president and CEO of Republic Airways, said: "The lead director position was created to provide greater independence and transparency to the operation of the board and oversight of the management team."
Siegel has served the aviation industry for over two decades. Most recently he served as chairman and chief executive of XOJET. Previously, he was as chairman and chief executive of GateGroup. Prior to that Siegel was president, chief executive and board member of US Airways Group.
