The Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of carrier Regional Express (Rex), is to provide pilot training services for Jeppesen in Australia.

The programme aims to train future airline pilots for Jeppesen's clients globally to the standard required for Australian and international commercial pilot licences, says Rex.

The three-year agreement with Jeppesen will begin in July 2010. Student pilots across aviation markets in China, India and the Middle East will be invited to participate in this training programme, it adds

"We envisage more than 80 students a year coming to Wagga Wagga to learn to fly. AAPA has a fantastic facility for students to complete their Commercial Pilots Licence and instrument ratings in order to transition to airline jets," says Richard Low, general manager of Jeppesen Australia.
