Ricardo has been selected to join the development of a version of the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) TaxiBot for widebody aircraft.

The announcement also discloses Ricardo's role in supporting IAI's original TaxiBot towing system, a semi-robotic, pilot-controlled aircraft taxiing system that has been demonstrated on the Airbus A320.

Ricardo says in 2008 it developed the plan for IAI to develop the first TaxiBot demonstrator vehicle.

The vehicle was demonstrated to at least 11 airlines and airport agencies at Chateauroux Airport, France.

Ricardo now will remain on the team to develop the TaxiBot for widebody aircraft.

"This work will build upon the highly successful collaboration between our companies dating back to the first concept development of the system," says Richard Gordon, Ricardo's project director for TaxiBot.
