Romania's Aerostar wins new airframe MRO work

Romanian aerospace manufacturing and MRO company Aerostar has won airframe maintenance business from Turkey's Freebird Airlines and Spanish operator Swiftair.

Istanbul-based leisure carrier Freebird flew one of its seven Airbus A320s (TC-FBR) to Aerostar's facility in Bacau on 7 January where the latter performed a C-check and additional maintenance tasks.

Swiftair, a passenger and cargo operator in Madrid, contracted the MRO company to conduct a C-check on one of its six Boeing 737-300 freighters. The base maintenance visit includes service bulletin and airworthiness directive implementations.

The aircraft (EC-KLR) arrived in Aerostar's hangar on 8 January.

Aerostar also inducted a 737-800 from existing customer Royal Air Maroc for a D-check on 22 January. It will additionally conduct C-checks on two 737-800s and a 737-400 from Pegasus Airlines. The Turkish budget carrier has been an customer since 2007.
