Royal Jordanian Airlines will start scheduled cargo flights from Amman to the German city of Frankfurt on 7 April.

The flag carrier will initially operate once weekly on the route, before increasing frequencies to twice weekly at the beginning of May and then thrice weekly in 2014.

Royal Jordanian says Frankfurt will serve as its third European cargo hub, alongside Maastricht in the Netherlands and the Austrian capital Vienna.

Separately, the airline also plans to launch cargo flights between Amman and Mumbai in India in early 2014.

Royal Jordanian deploys two Airbus A310 freighters - capable of carrying 36t each - on its short- and medium-haul cargo services.
