Rwanda's national airline, RwandAir, has taken delivery at Kigali Airport of the first of two Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets from Lufthansa CityLine.
While Lufthansa is not commenting on the sale of the aircraft, a source familiar with the agreement says that a second CRJ200 is "on its way" and should be with the Rwandan carrier before the end of the year.
RwandAir says it has purchased the 50-seat jets for $15 million, in a deal which includes a spare parts package with Lufthansa Technik.
CityLine is providing technical support in Rwanda. The CRJ200s will help plug a capacity gap at RwandAir, following an accident to a CRJ100 operated on its behalf by JetLink Express of Kenya.
