RwandAir has taken delivery of the first of two Bombardier CRJ900s ordered in March.

The Rwandan flag carrier received the aircraft at a ceremony in Quebec.

Chief executive John Mirenge says regional route development by the airline's pre-existing 50-seater CRJ200 had matured markets to the point where the 75-seater CRJ900 was now justified.

"The CRJ900 NextGen jetliner is a natural progression from the CRJ200 aircraft that has served us so well," he says.
