Irish budget carrier Ryanair is planning to reduce by two, to a dozen, the number of aircraft based at Dublin this winter.

The airline stationed 14 aircraft at the Irish capital last winter, a reduction in turn on the previous year.

Ryanair plans to transfer the aircraft to other bases in Europe. It says the decision, which follows a similar move to cut London Stansted capacity, has been driven by governmental passenger taxes.

Ryanair says the capacity reduction means it will operate some 15% fewer flights from Dublin this winter.
