Irish budget carrier Ryanair's shareholders have overwhelmingly approved the airline's intended purchase of 175 Boeing 737-800s.

The airline plans to take delivery of the CFM International CFM56-powered twinjets over a five-year period from 2014 to 2018.

Ryanair says that, following a vote, the resolution was "passed" at an extraordinary general meeting.
