South African Airways (SAA) has teamed with Congolese regional carrier Trans Air Congo (TAC) to begin services from the Republic of Congo to Johannesburg.

Under the agreement TAC will, from 11 August, start weekly flights from Brazzaville to Johannesburg. It will also serve the South African city from Pointe Noire.

It forms part of SAA’s efforts to develop its presence in central Africa.

“Our relationship with TAC will add to the development of the central African region,” says SAA acting CEO Oyama Mbandla. “As an African carrier and the leader on the continent we have to keep our promise of increasing connectivity between African countries. This is a further step in that direction.”
