European Union authorities have extended the lifting of Libyan sanctions to the country's other main airline, Afriqiyah Airways.

Sanctions against Libyan Airlines were eased at the beginning of September but Afriqiyah was notably not listed among other companies free of restrictions.

But the European Union's Official Journal now contains an implementation decision, dated 15 September, which removes sanctions from the Tripoli-based carrier.

Several Afriqiyah Airways aircraft, and the airline's headquarters, were badly damaged during the Libyan conflict.
