Scandinavia's SAS Group estimates the impact of the European volcanic ash disruption at SKr50-90 million ($7-12 million) per day.

Over the course of the airspace closures to 18 April, SAS says, the accumulated cost has reached some SKr220-280 million.

SAS Group chief Mats Jansson adds: "The estimate includes extra reimbursements to our customers, such as hotel accommodation expenses and costs for alternative transportation."

Scandinavian airspace was affected early in the eruption cycle of the volcano in Iceland, resulting in cancellation of hundreds of flights.
