Scandinavian Airlines is to fit Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines to the higher-weight Airbus A330-300s selected for the carrier's long-haul fleet renewal.

The carrier is taking four A330s as part of a modernisation which also includes eight A350-900s, to be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWBs.

Scandinavian Airlines already operates four Trent-powered A330s and Rolls-Royce confirms the new -300s will have Trent engines.

Rolls-Royce values the combined powerplant agreement, which includes a long-term maintenance support package, at $1 billion at list prices.
