Amsterdam Schiphol airport saw passenger traffic increase by 2.6% to 51 million in 2012.

Cargo volumes declined 3% to 1.5 million tonnes, while the number of air transport movements rose by 0.8% to 423,000, says the airport operator.

"For 2013 we are expecting a small increase in the number of passengers and a slight shrinkage in freight", says Jos Nijhuis, Schiphol Group's president and chief executive.
