Russian federal air transport supervisor Rostransnadzor has suspended Antonov An-24 operations by the carrier IrAero following the overrun accident at Blagoveshchensk and another incident at Chita.

The later incident occurred on 17 August after the aircraft landed and rolled beyond the runway, damaging lighting equipment, said Rostransnadzor.

It said that IrAero's An-24 operations would be halted until the airline had put in place remedial measures.

Inspection of the airline following the 8 August overrun at Blagoveshchensk, which badly damaged another An-24, discovered "breaches" in civil aviation regulations, said Rostransnadzor, and the carrier has been ordered to "eliminate" the violations.
