Shanghai Aircraft inks C919 fuselage joining contract

Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing has inked a contract to start a fuselage joining and aircraft assembly production line for the Comac C919.

The agreement was inked between the Comac subsidiary, state-owned enterprise Sinochem International Tendering and US firm AIT.

In addition, composite specialist FACC has also signed an agreement with Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing for the development and supply of winglets and spoilers for the C919.

The concept design review of the parts has been completed and the development has entered the preliminary design phase.

Comac is aiming to conduct the first flight of the C919 in 2014, with entry into service in 2016.
