Shanghai Airlines plans to begin flights between Hangzhou and Bangkok.

It has applied to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to start operating on the route, and plans to fly twice weekly between the two cities.

Shanghai Airlines will operate the flights with Boeing 737 aircraft, says the CAAC, adding that the carrier wants to commence the flights soon.

The airline will compete on the route against Hainan Airlines, which operates twice weekly between Hangzhou and Bangkok.
