Shareholders of Russian leasing company Ilyushin Finance have endorsed its plan to acquire 70 new domestic aircraft.

The package submitted by the management for approval by shareholder general meeting includes agreements signed with airframers Irkut and Sukhoi.

The lessor says it has firmed up a letter of intent for 50 Irkut MS-21 twinjets, powered by Pratt & Whitney 1400 or Aviadviagtel PD-14 engines, and has already made an advance payment.

Ilyushin Finance is looking to start taking MS-21 deliveries in 2019. In addition, it intends to acquire 15 baseline Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jets plus five long-range variants.

The lessor's portfolio also comprises orders for 26 Antonov An-148/158 and 32 Bombardier CSeries aircraft.
