Skyworks today named Mathis Shinnick as managing director and eventual head for the Asia Pacific region.

Shinnick will be based in Hong Kong where he will focus on further development of the Skyworks Capital Asia platform. He has spent his career in aviation and aerospace leadership roles managing leasing, merchant banking and investment banking entities.

Prior to joining Skyworks, Shinnick was the chief executive officer of Hong Kong Aviation Capital and president of HNA Group, a transportation investment and leasing entity based in Hong Kong. He was recruited to HKAC from his role as global head and executive vice president of HSH Nordbank's transportation business.

Shinnick will transition into the role of the head of Skyworks Capital Asia in preparation for and upon Colum Carr's transition to SkyWorks' US headquarters later this year. Carr has recently been appointed to the board of Skyworks Capital Asia and will remain closely involved with interests in Asia following his return to the USA.

In addition, Ian McBain, who had been based in Hong Kong at SkyWorks Capital Asia, has relocated to Europe where, in addition to serving Asia, he will focus on developing the broader platform. He will also remain on the board of Skyworks Capital Asia.
