Shuttle America today ended its US Airways Express service between Bedford, Massachusetts and Trenton, New Jersey.

The regional carrier cites increased competition, weak market conditions and rising fuel prices for canceling the Saab 340 service, which operated five times a day between Mondays and Fridays.

“The decision to terminate service between Bedford and Trenton was made to allow our airline to deploy the aircraft in better performing markets,” says Shuttle America president Scott Durgin in a statement. “The market has not performed to our expectations and its removal will allow us to better support our partners’ operations.”

The city pair is still served by PanAm Clipper Connection carrier Boston-Maine Airways, which operates six daily BAE System Jetstream 31 turboprop flights during the week.
