Singapore Airlines has indicated that it will continue to roll out new developments to expand its business, following two major announcements by the airline in the last two weeks.
The Star Alliance carrier's CEO Goh Choon Phong, when asked if the airline has further plans to drive growth, said: "I've always maintained that to be in this business, you have to be flexible and nimble. We are not going to stop here."
SIA announced today a long-term alliance with Virgin Australia, which will involve the two airlines codesharing on each other's domestic and international flights. They will also co-ordinate schedules to provide more seamless connections to their passengers and plan to provide reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.
On 25 May, SIA said it plans to set up a low-cost subsidiary airline that will operate on medium and long-haul routes, which will begin operations within a year.
