Singapore Airlines (SIA) plans to deploy Airbus A380 aircraft on its Singapore-Los Angeles via Tokyo Narita route from March 2011.
The A380 will replace the Boeing 747 on the route, which SIA operates on daily, says a spokesman from the Star Alliance carrier.
This change will take effect from the northern summer 2011 schedule, which will begin around the end of March, he adds.
The airline also operates a non-stop flight between Singapore and Los Angeles, but uses Airbus A340 aircraft on that service.
SIA, which has a fleet of 11 A380s with another eight on order, uses the A380s on its flights between Singapore and Hong Kong, London, Sydney, Zurich, Tokyo Narita, Melbourne and Paris.
