Singapore Airlines (SIA) will deploy an Airbus A380 on the Singapore-Melbourne route starting in late September.

The Star Alliance carrier says in a statement that the A380 will replace a Boeing 747-400 on one of its thrice-daily services from Singapore to Melbourne.

An SIA spokeswoman in Singapore says the change will start on 29 September.

Melbourne is the sixth city that SIA will be operating the A380 to after Sydney, London, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong, it says.
