SIA traffic up 3% in August

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has reported a 3% growth in RPKs in August compared with the same month in 2010.

The number of passengers carried by the airline increased by 2.2% to 1.39 million, said the Star Alliance carrier.

Capacity, as measured in ASKs, grew by 5.1% which led to a passenger load factor decline of 1.8 percentage point to 76.6%.

SIA Cargo's overall traffic measured in freight tonne kilometers recorded a decline of 0.1% with a capacity increase of 0.2%. Consequently, the overall load factor declined 0.2 percentage points.

The overall passenger and cargo load factor for the group dropped 1.6 percentage points to 66.4%, said SIA.
