Yakutia Airlines is to take three Bombardier Q300 turboprops to increase its short-range capacity.

The Siberian carrier will receive the first of the type this month and a further two in mid-August or early September.

Fleet management chief Ivan Vinokurov says the aircraft have been equipped with additional engine-heating systems and retrofitted to operate from unpaved runways.

Yakutia has already taken delivery of four leased Q400 turboprops as replacements for its Antonov An-24 and An-140s.

It plans to deploy the Q300s on lower-density and shorter-range routes, adds Vinokurov.
