Sichuan Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding for 20 Comac C919s, giving the Chinese manufacturer its second major commitment for the aircraft this week.

The MoU, a signing ceremony for which was held today in Chengdu, takes to 165 the total commitments for the aircraft so far. Chinese leasing company ICBC Leasing had earlier inked an order for 45 Comac C919 narrowbodies and agreed to become the launch customer for the aircraft. The C919 is scheduled for first flight in 2014.

Sichuan Airlines currently operates a fleet of Airbus A320 family and A330s, together with three Embraer 145s.
