Sikorsky and Riyadh-based Alpha Star Aviation Services are evaluating whether to set up a maintenance venture for military and commercial aircraft in Saudi Arabia.
The helicopter manufacturer's aftermarket division, Sikorsky Aerospace Services (SAS), has inked a letter of intent with the Middle Eastern company to "discuss" a potential joint venture for "comprehensive military and commercial aviation support and maintenance services" in the kingdom.
Alpha Star provides aircraft management, private aviation and consulting services. Its chief executive, Abdullah Al Saloomi, said that, "in time", a firm agreement would allow the company to create "a world-class aviation support organization".
The new venture would form part of SAS' global support facility network.
