Singapore Airlines passenger traffic flat in April

Singapore Airlines' (SIA) passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, increased by 0.8% year-on-year in April.

The carrier's passenger capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 3.2%, and its passenger load factor fell by 1.9 percentage points to 77.8%.

The number of passengers carried by the airline grew by 1.1% to 1.52 million.

Passenger traffic at SIA's subsidiary SilkAir increased by 3.7%, while its capacity grew by 15.4%. The number of passengers carried increased by 1.5% to 276,000. The carrier's passenger load factor dropped by 7.8 percentage points to 69.4%.

SIA Cargo's overall traffic, as measured in freight tonne kilometres, decreased by 4.5% year on year, while its capacity fell by 4.8%. The cargo load factor increased by 0.2 percentage points to 62.8%.

The overall passenger and cargo load factor for the SIA Group rose by 0.4 percentage points to 68.9%.
