Singapore Airlines passenger traffic up 3% in June

Singapore Airlines' (SIA) passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, increased by 2.5% in June compared with the same period a year ago.

The carrier's passenger capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 4.4% and its passenger load factor fell by 1.5 percentage points to 81.5%.

The number of passengers carried by the airline grew by 2.7% year on year to 1.58 million.

Passenger traffic at SIA's subsidiary, SilkAir, increased by 8.9% while its capacity grew by 17.1%. The number of passengers carried went up by 7.6% to 313,000. The carrier's passenger load factor dropped by 5.5 percentage points to 73.2%.

SIA Cargo's overall traffic, as measured in freight tonne kilometres, decreased by 6.3% year on year, while its capacity fell by 5.6%. The cargo load factor went down by 0.5 percentage points to 62.6%.

The overall passenger and cargo load factor for the SIA Group rose by 0.6 percentage points to 70.5%.
