Singapore Airlines passenger traffic up 3.4% in January

Singapore Airlines' passenger traffic as measured in RPKs increased by 3.4% year on year in January.

The carrier's passenger capacity as measured in ASKs rose by 1.7%, and its passenger load factor rose by 1.3 percentage points to 78%.

The number of passengers carried by the airline increased by 2.5% to 1.51 million.

Passenger traffic at SIA's subsidiary, SilkAir, climbed by 2.5%, while its capacity rose by 16%. The number of passengers carried declined by 3% to 258,000. The carrier's passenger load factor also fell by 8.7 percentage points to 68%.

SIA Cargo's overall traffic, as measured in freight tonne kilometres, climbed by 3%, while its capacity declined by 0.8%. The cargo load factor increased by 2.2 percentage points to 61%.

The overall passenger and cargo load factor for the SIA Group rose by 2.5 percentage points to 68%.
