Singapore Airlines passenger traffic up 4% in July

Singapore Airlines' (SIA) passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, increased by 4.4% in July compared with the same period a year ago.

The carrier's passenger capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose 3.9% and its passenger load factor improved by 0.3 percentage points to 80.8%.

The number of passengers carried by the airline increased by 3.7% to 1.61 million.

Passenger traffic at SIA's subsidiary, SilkAir, increased by 6.1%, while its capacity grew by 13%. The number of passengers carried went up by 1.8% to 284,000. The carrier's passenger load factor dropped by 4.9 percentage points to 70.1%.

SIA Cargo's overall traffic, as measured in freight tonne kilometres, decreased by 9.1 %, while its capacity fell by 6.7%. The cargo load factor went down by 1.5 percentage points to 61.5%.

The overall passenger and cargo load factor for the SIA Group rose by 0.5 percentage points to 69%.
