Singapore Airlines passenger traffic up 9% in August

Singapore Airlines' (SIA) passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, increased by 8.6% in August compared with the same period a year ago.
The carrier's passenger capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose 3.1% and its passenger load factor improved by 4.1 percentage points to 82.4%.
The number of passengers carried by the airline increased by 12% to 1.66 million.
Passenger traffic at SIA's subsidiary, SilkAir, increased by 11%, while its capacity grew by 13%. The number of passengers carried went up by 6.9% to 293,000. The carrier's passenger load factor dropped by 1.8 percentage points to 71.7%.
SIA Cargo's overall traffic, as measured in freight tonne kilometres, decreased by 5.7 %, while its capacity fell by 5 %. The cargo load factor went down by 0.5 percentage points to 60.1%.
The overall passenger and cargo load factor for the SIA Group rose by 1.6 percentage points to 69.1%.
