Bangkok Airways has firmed an order for six ATR 72-600s, with an option for a further two aircraft.
The deal, valued at close to $200 million, marks the start of Bangkok Airways' transition to the newer variant of the turboprop.
The boutique carrier will take delivery of one new -600 this year, four in 2015, and another in 2016. The plan is for the incoming turboprops to progressively replace its existing fleet of eight ATR 72-500s, says its president Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth at the Singapore air show.
Bangkok Airways operates a fleet of 8 ATR 72-500s, seven Airbus A320s and 11 A319s.
