Esterline CMC Electronics’ PilotView class 2 electronic flightbag has been selected by Bombardier as a standard option for the CSeries airliner. The system includes a 12.1in multitouch, backlit LED display. CMC’s aircraft information management system will also be offered as an option for CSeries customers.

“All the CSeries customers we are aware of have signed for the option,” says CMC’s director of electronic flightbag products, Jean-Marie Bégis. Operators can also select dual laptop docking stations that can be interfaced with the electronic flightbag.

A prototype of the enhanced electronic flightbag is on display at the show. Existing CMC PilotView electronic flightbags, such as that equipping Boeing’s 737NG family, use a 10.4in screen and do not feature multitouch functionality.

Bégis says the Canadian company hopes to get the PilotView system on board Comac’s C919 and the Embraer E2 series.

“There is definite interest from those two entities in adopting the same type of approach,” says Bégis.

PilotView is already a standard option for several ATR, Boeing, Bombardier, Dassault Aviation and Embraer types.
