As the operational base of Engine Alliance GP7200s grows, the firm is expanding the maintenance network for the powerplant.

The company has a memorandum of understanding with Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) to support Etihad's GP7200-powered Airbus A380s, said Mary Ellen Jones, president of Engine Alliance.

This will see the Abu Dhabi-based support organisation become equipped to service and repair the GP7200.

This will become the fourth maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) shop approved by Engine Alliance to service the engine since the General Electric Wales overhaul facility was set up. The Wales shop is operational while others run by Emirates and Air France have been approved but have not yet been established.
