Further integration is possible between the merged businesses of Hamilton Sundstrand and Goodrich, more than a year after United Technologies acquired the latter company.
UTC closed on the acquisition of Goodrich in July 2012 and subsequently integrated the supplier with Hamilton Sundstrand.
"There will be further integration," says David Gitlin, president of UTC's aircraft systems segment at the Singapore air show. The merging of Hamilton Sundstrand and Goodrich has reduced 14 business units to nine, points out Gitlin. "One day it might be less than that," he adds.
Gitlin says the integration has gone "extremely well", and cites the OEM's win of contracts on the re-engined Embraer E-Jet E2 as an example of how the company has grown stronger.
"One plus one has been more than two... we won products on the E2 that we wouldn't have won if we were not part of UTC together," he says.
