Chilean carrier Sky Airline has agreed to wet lease an Airbus A320 from Air Malta under a three-month contract.
The 2003-vintage aircraft is powered by CFMI engines.
It will increase Sky Airline's capacity during the peak summer season in the southern hemisphere, and is expected to operate from Santiago in Chile to airports in Peru, Brazil and Uruguay. The aircraft will again rejoin Air Malta's fleet in early March, in time for the latter's summer season.
This is the fifth wet-lease agreement between the two airlines since 2007. The deals enable Air Malta to generate additional revenue in busy periods and lease out excess capacity during winter. Past customers have included Etihad Airways, Libyan Airlines, Adria Airways and Air New Zealand.
