US no-frills start-up Skybus Airlines on December 17 will add connections from Portsmouth International Airport in New Hampshire to two Florida destinations - St Augustine and Charlotte County Airport in Punta Gorda.

The Airbus A319 operator says the St Augustine service aims to serve the Jacksonville/Daytona Beach area, while Punta Gorda serves Southwest Florida including the Naples, Sarasota and Port Charlotte areas.

Skybus already serves Portsmouth and St Augustine from its base in Columbus, and announced last week it will begin service from Columbus to Punta Gorda on December 5.

“The response to our flights between Columbus and Portsmouth has been remarkable,” says Skybus CEO Bill Diffenderffer in a statement.

“We’re positive that there will be enormous demand from people in the Boston area, New Hampshire and Southern Maine for these new nonstop fights to Florida beaches and vacation destinations at Skybus’ outrageously low fares.
