SkyExpress is introducing Airbus A320 family aircraft in its fleet after signing a lease agreement with Oak Hill Aircraft for three second-hand A319 aircraft.
The first aircraft, registered VQ-BLY, is to be delivered in May to the Russian low-cost carrier on a five-year operational lease.
A SkyExpress' spokesman says the carrier is also putting the finishing touches to similarly-structured deals covering the supply of two further A319s.
"All three aircraft will have 156 seats and are scheduled for delivery next month," he says, adding that the aircraft were previously in service with EasyJet.
SkyExpress will deploy the A319s on scheduled and charter routes with the most intensive passenger traffic, and will retain all nine Boeing 737s in its fleet. "But we'll consider phasing out some of the ageing -300 and -500 models eventually," says the spokesman.
