West Australian regional carrier Skywest Airlines is taking steps to get listed on the Australian stock exchange.

At its upcoming annual general meeting on 19 November, the airline will make changes to its company articles in order to advance its application, says Skywest.

The listing may help to increase the level of Australian ownership in the Perth-based carrier, and assist in its efforts to get an Australian international airline license, it adds.

Skywest is listed on the London stock exchange's Alternative Investment Market.

The airline's managing director Hugh Davin said earlier in October that Skywest was in the market to lease its first Airbus A320, and use it to launch scheduled international passenger services to Southeast Asia.

Skywest operates a fleet of Fokker 50s and Fokker 100s.
