SkyWest traffic up 4.6% in October

US regional carrier SkyWest Airlines has reported a 4.6% increase year-on-year in passenger traffic in October.

Capacity for the Utah-based airline grew 2.7% during the month versus October 2011, with the load factor growing 1.5 percentage points to 82.1%, it says.

Passenger numbers for the month increased by 7.6% year-on-year to 5.14 million.

On a year-to-date basis, traffic increased 3.4% year-on-year, while capacity rose 1.6%.

Passenger numbers grew 5.1% to 49.2 million, as the load factor rose 1.4 percentage points to 80.7%.

SkyWest includes Atlantic Southeast Airlines, ExpressJet and SkyWest. The carrier operates under capacity purchase agreements for Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines as well as some at risk flying.
