Slosar to succeed Pratt as Cathay chairman in 2014

Cathay Pacific has announced that chief executive John Slosar will be appointed as its chairman from March 2014 following the planned retirement of Christopher Pratt.

Slosar, 57, has been chief executive of the Oneworld carrier since 2011, and prior to that position, was its chief operating officer. Apart from chair of the airline, he will also assume the chairmanship of John Swire & Sons, Swire Pacific and Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering (HAECO).

Following Slosar's appointment to the chairman's role, chief operating officer Ivan Chu, 51, will take up the role of chief executive of Cathay.

Chu joined Cathay in 1984 and is also the chairman of AHK Air Hong Kong.
