SMBC Aviation Capital has delivered a new Boeing 737-800 to Indonesian carrier Batik Air.
The aircraft bears the registration PK-LBK, which corresponds with MSN39822. Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that the aircraft was originally ordered by parent airline Lion Air in 2008 as a -900ER variant, however in late 2013 it was converted to a -800.
It is understood that upon delivery to the airline, it underwent a sale and leaseback transaction with SMBC.
Ascend also shows that Batik has seven other 737s in service, including six -900ERs, and six Airbus A320s on order.
This year, Lion Air has completed sale and leaseback transactions on a number of new aircraft with lessors including Avolon, BOC Aviation and AWAS.
