Southwest appoints customer service executives

Southwest Airlines has appointed Teresa Laraba as senior vice president of customers and Jack Smith as vice president of customer support and services.

Laraba, most recently the airline's senior vice president of customer services, will continue to provide senior leadership for the departments of customer support and services, customer relations and Rapid Rewards, and customer services.

She has been with Southwest since 1984.

Jack Smith, most recently Southwest's vice president of ground Operations/AirTran, will be lead more than 4,000 customer support and services employees.

A 30-year industry veteran who joined AirTran in April 2002, Smith will report to Laraba.

Both changes are effective immediately.
